Thua Thien-Hue Province and the Hue Relic Preservation Center awarded the Friendship Order to Dr. Nakagawa Takeshi, a Japanese professor, on the occasion of the Hue Festival.
Dr. Takeshi, director of Waseda University’s Unesco World Heritage Institute, has made outstanding contributions in preserving and promoting Hue’s cultural heritage as well as transferring advanced preservation techniques from Japan to the Hue Relic Preservation Center.
The professor and his partners are now lobbying the Japanese Government for a non-refundable grant of US$20 million to restore the Can Chanh Palace in the former imperial capital of Hue in 2010-15.
