Dalat Palace GC prepares for Vietnam Amateur Open - Dalat Palace Golf Club

On June 19, Dalat Palace Golf Club (GC) will welcome the top players from north to south—and beyond—for the Vietnam Amateur Open, a four-day, 72-hole event organized by the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA).
The event will attract the participation of 120 men and 24 women. The storied layout’s caretakers are adding length to the rough and speed to the bent-grass greens. Distance, however, is being left to Mother Nature.

Previously called the Vietnam National Championship, the Vietnam Amateur is open to any non-professional living in Vietnam, Vietnamese non-professionals residing abroad and one non-professional under the age of 23 from other ASEAN nations. They must also have handicaps of 9 or better to be eligible.

Among the golfers who will battle for the men’s title are three-time Dalat Palace GC club champion Andrew Legge and the winner of last year’s Vietnam National Championship, Huynh Van Son.

Both the prize ceremony and the final round will be broadcast live on VTV.

Owned by Danao International Holdings, Dalat Palace GC is widely considered the country’s top course. In its last four Planet Golf surveys, Golf Digest USA rated the course the best in the country; in 2007, Asian Golf Monthly readers also voted it No. 1 in Vietnam.

Gently crafted into the rolling hills of Dalat and overlooking the Majestic Xuan Huong Lake, the club’s fairways weave through stately pine trees to oversized, undulating, bent-grass greens, a rarity in Southeast Asia.
