Noi Bai International Airport will be able to accommodate as many as 25 million passengers per year starting in 2020 and 50 million after 2030, according to a newly approved airport plan.
Decision 590/QD-TTg was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on behalf of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. It includes a 13.74 trillion VND (859 million USD) upgrade and expansion of the airport to 2020 and a 43 trillion VND (2.7 billion USD) boost after 2020.
The State budget, private interests and international aid will help fund the renovations.
According to the decision, by 2020, Noi Bai International Airport will have 29 landing areas and will be able to receive 260,000 tonnes of goods per year. Space for excess goods will also create.
The airport will have two routes for take off and landing.
After 2020, Noi Bai International Airport will continue upgrades, raising the amount of receivable goods to 500,000 tonnes per year.
The airport will meet the 4F airport standard set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. There will then be three routes for landing and parking, and the airport will be able to accommodate up to 45 aeroplanes at rush hour.
According to earlier plans, construction for Noi Bai International Airport ’s T2 passenger station will begin this October Completion is expected by October 2010.
