The first candidates of Miss Universe 2008 pageant arrived at Hcm City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport this morning, June 17.
Actually, Miss Albania and Miss Kosovo were scheduled to arrive in Hcm city first, at night on June 16. As their Flight schedule was changed, they couldn’t inform the organising board. Journalists waited for them at Tan Son Nhat Airport and left in disappointment.
Miss Guam Siera Robertson was the first of the over 80 competitors to wave her hand and say hello to Vietnamese people at Tan Son Nhat Airport, followed by Miss Russia Vera Krasova and Miss Ukraine Eleonora Masalab.
Miss USA Crystle Stewart and Miss Hungary Jazmin Dammak arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 10.20am, on a transit flight from Hong Kong.
From the afternoon to night of June 17, over 30 girls will arrive in HCM City. They will stay at the New World Hotel and have a meeting with the press there.
Miss Universe Vietnam Nguyen Thuy Lam, second runner-up Duong Truong Thien Ly, and Vietnamese organisers welcomed international competitors at the airport.
After leaving the aircraft, competitors were led to the airport’s hall to say hello and introduce themselves to Vietnamese audiences.
Seventy-four competitors will come to Vietnam from June 17 to 19. After the final girl arrives in Vietnam, a night party will be held on June 20 to welcome the over 80 beauties.
They will participate in the first activities in the afternoon on June 21.
